RE: Was Lousy fuel economy on '91 200TQW, now is ebrake cables

Huv:

Okay, as a public service announcement, for those of you with '91 200
quattros with 3B motors, in need of ebrake cables, the earlier ones made
for the cars with MC motors will work. They're 5 mm longer, and if you've
got a super long 10mm socket to loosen the adjusting nut in the tunnel
under the handbrake mechanism, you can make it work fine. I found out on
my car that Audi installed the earlier cables on my car. They're lying
around? FIne, let's use 'em. The customer won't know the difference. In
removing the old cable, I kept wondering why the hell they designed
something where the adjusting nut had to be cinched up so far, and why it
was a PITA to loosen and remove.
