Ouch.  double ouch.  40mph - quadruple turbo ouch!

hint, if you see you're about to be rear ended, especially hard, get off
the brakes, and if you can, take off as fast as possible to minimise the
rear impact.  If you must hit something try to time it so both impacts
occur at the same time.
