RE: plastic welding?
Huw, about 2 months ago there was an article in 'Sport Car Compact' with a
list of Specialists in Florida whom are able to work magic with plastic.
One of the companies refab'ed a gen3 RX-7, no that is a lot of plastic to
mess with. So I am sure they can handle what you are asking for. Umm but
shipping to Florida, and the cost of a specialist...But perhaps if I find
the mag again I can get the info too you and maybe they know of someone on
the east coast?

Yes, there are- at least here in Europe. Damage to bumpers
is very common,
and replacement (with likely a repaint) is expensive.
Repairs are getting
common. Specialists can repair almost anything, and even
recreate the
original surface appearance (pebbling, leather effect). It's
done on
dashboards, too- to remove mobile phone holder holes.
