Re: Got front spoiler, will travel (Blau 4k/GT spoiler)

I just received from Blau, a Kamei front spoiler (air dam) to fit my '84
4kq. My understanding was that this was the last one he had. I don't know
if Kamei still makes them to fit the '84. Anyway, I am looking forward to
installing it, but will be in no hurry, since with the car lowered, and the
air dam being 2 to 3 inches deeper than stock, I don't want to tear it off
with the first snow drift. I also plan to get it painted and clear-coated
to match the car. I am thinking about using Dzus fasteners for the
installation to allow quick removal (in case of deep snow), or so I can get
the car up on service ramps. I am also thinking about fabricating some kind
of mesh for the lower grill, either the expanded metal-type as seen on the
TT, or maybe a woven wire mesh as I have seen on other cars. If I do this
mesh-type lower grill, then I may try to install some brake cooling ducts
and hoses to the backing plates behind the front rotors (I've seen this on a
BMW M3), and maybe also integrate some small fog lights just inboard of the
cooling ducts. I know this all sounds like..."this is what I'm gonna do",
but I thought I'd throw it out to see if anyone has any thoughts, or BTDT.
