The type 44s ('88-91; perhaps earlier?) in the USA were equipped with the 
pro-con 10 seatbelt pretensioner system, plus other passive designs (the knee 
bar or glovebox to prevent "submarining", splinter-resistant coatings on wood 
trim, ...).
I've written up the pro-con 10 system features on my page.
