RE: Hydraulic lifters to non hyrdraulic

... that is an excellent question, one in fact that I have pondered a bit
myself ... I have a brand new head for my WX engine which looks an awful lot
like a head for a hydraulic lifter MC, with air ports for the shrouded
injectors.

One thing that is certain, and that is you would need a solid lifter
camshaft, as the profile on your current cam is done with the expectation
that the "thickness" of the lifter will change slightly during valve
actuation.

I have noticed that the form factors of the solid buckets and the lifters
are very similar, and I suspect that the solid buckets would fit into the
holes on the head. The question is whether or not there were any changes to
the lengths of the valve stems and/or springs for each application.

If you do find any definitive information I would appreciate hearing it ...
and I will pass along what I learn during my voyage of discovery.
