I got the old bearing off with a standard issue puller, had to cut
through
the rubber attaching the bearing to the bracket and remove the bracket
to
get the arms of the puller to grip on the metal of the bearing. Took a
minimum amount of force. The biggest PITA was getting the yolk off the
driveshaft.
The way I did this:
a. Found a longer bolt that the original holding the yolk on.
b. Threaded the bolt right into the yolk
c. Put a piece of steel (craftsman 18" breaker) through the
"eyes" of the yolk.
d. Backed out the bolt till it was putting pressure on the yolk via the
breaker bar.
e. Heated the yolk with a propane torch to loosen the locktite.
Bad ascii art of the top view of this process (H is the head of the
bolt):

It took quite a bit of force on the yolk via the bolt to get movement.
The locktite held things together all the way to the end of the splines.
The fit on the center support bearing is not too tight I suspect I will
be able to push it on without a press.... Now if only I can get a
replacement uni I will be set.
Cheers
