Iain,

Any good parts place should have what you need, this is
assuming that the shims are the same as the ones used in
4 cyl VW's.  I checked my box of spares & used shims
and 3.0 was the smallest I have.  BTW in the box was a
genuine VW/Audi shim at 3.1 that came out of my 1980
4000 (1.6 liter 4 cyl)
