RE: Seat Heaters...

Actually, seat heaters on the 5k/1c cars are a whole lot easier to work on
than in the 4k/cgt (and possibly 80/90s).
The large cars get two heating pads that get sandwiched between the foam
cushions and the leather/fabric. These can be removed separately and
repaired rather easily. Finding the point of failure is often as easy as
looking for the large burn marks in the heating pad, seat cover or foam
cushions.
However, the smaller cars only have heater elements in the center sections
of the seats, none over the bolsters. And the heater elements are sewn in
between the seat covering and some padding. Attempting to locate the exact
point of failure becomes an digging expedition, or an exercise in seat cover
re-stitching...

I'm going to look into the possibility of retrofitting the large car heating
elements into the smaller seats. Anyone know of any easier way to repair
the 4k/urq heated seat elements?? Phil?

So Arden,
You should be able to find a set of heating elements and the wiring
harness, switches and relays from a donor car without to much trouble.

Get a used harness (on the 4k it is a discrete hunk o'wiring) and a set
of new heating elements? I think the new elements are available,
hopefully they have the plugs you need, if not you should have already
taken them from the car that gave you the harness...

let us know how it works, I should do this.
