Dashboard wood trim removal...

...'89 200QW, non-airbag: what's the trick? Or does the dash have to
come out?
Bought a set from an airbag car, differences appear to be mounting
points and length (airbag woods seem to extend further toward steeing
column from both sides). Possible to adapt these to my car? Any BTDT's?
If it's not possible, should I assume that I have a better chance of
never developing another electrical, pentosin, and door handle problem
over finding another lister willing to trade a set of non-airbag wood
for my airbag wood?
