exactly the same thing happend to me 7 weeks ago. My damage was estimated by
the
repair company about 3500$. They wanted to put new details instead damaged
ones.
Insurance company got used details from Sweden (i know it seems quite far
but,)
and the total cost (incl. paint stuff and other fixes and all shipment
costs)
dropped below 1000$. Whole bunch on stuff was just replaced on the front of
the 
car (i also got "new" UFO disk). Car runs now like it used to be ... that is
i feel now diference between used details and new ones. My advice is for you
to
look up a V8 with badly damaged rear (hoping that front of the car is OK)
and buy
the whole stuff together - it IS a way cheaper than buying each detail
individually.
