I have 2 V8's a 90 and a 91,  I'll try to answer your questions below :-)

The regular V8's are 3.6 or 3.8L, about 240hp, right?


	90 and 91 are 3.6 Liter with 240hp and 245-250lbft.  The
	torque number depends on what magazine and brochures you 
	look at...


Then there was the 4.2L with more HP...


	This engine comes with 92-95 V8's.  276hp not sure about
	torque,  I'll have to check the dealer brochure hanging
	in my garage later....
	
	
Did both come in a 5spd?


	No.  91 is the only year they where thought to have been
	made.  But I have seen a late 90 V8 with a 5 speed.
	
	I've seen numbers from 70-150 imported to the USA.
	
	
Does anyone know either A) A 5 spd for sale or B) a 4.2L for sale?


	Try Chris Semple at Autobahn in Bow NH.  A month ago
	they had a pearl 5 speed that had some suspension damage
	that they fixed.  Low mileage reasonable price.

Would it be a good idea just to get a early A8?  What year did they start
making those? Are they w/ 5/6 spd trannies?


	A8 is automatic only in the USA.  I believe 97 maybe for the
	first year of the A8.  Prices are around 40k plus for a used
	A8.  V8's can be had for 5k-12k depending on condition/mileage.
