Push back the plastic insulation on the positive cable and check for
corrosion in the form of a green powdery substance.  If you have a lot of it
you may have to replace the cable.  Make sure the copper braided ground
cable is firmly connected to chassis.

If you haven't already done so, take both cables off the battery and clean
posts and connectors with a wire brush.  Smear some Vaseline on the posts
and tighten connectors back on firmly.  Any difference?
