Audi ur-quattro 10V right engine mount replacement
Parts required:
- 443 191 381C Engine mount
- 443 199 443 6mm spacer - may be present and can be reused
- 857 199 386A Heatshield
- 857 199 765A Press fit bolt (x2) - optional
- M10 Nylock nut
- M8 Nylock nut (x2) - optional
Procedure:
- Remove right headlight
- Remove right undertray
- Remove inlet concertina hose
- Detach fuel feed and return lines (MB - silencers are NOT interchangeable)
- Detach single bolt holding cold start valve line on back of inlet manifold
- Undo air filter housing clips
- Pull connector off side of metering head (MB - also unplug fuel frequency valve)
- Swing/fold fuel injection over the back of the engine - injectors stay in place
- Remove air filter box - one remarkably long 13mm set screw
- Remove two 13mm nuts (care with spacers and grommet 'dishes') holding oil cooler bracket to chassis leg
- Pull oil cooler bracket off captive studs - lines stay attached - may be difficult if blocked by oil cooler lines
- Remove any remnants of old engine mount heatshield
- Top nut of engine mount should now be visible beneath turbo/downpipe
- Wire brush protruding thread using penetrant oil
- Remove top nut - how you get ANYTHING on it is your problem - may require extra ballast weight on engine
- Loosen lower 13mm Nylocks several turns
- Jack up the engine until the mount rattles
- Spin off the 13mm Nylocks, pull the engine mount down and off
- The captive studs are press fit bolts - they may be optionally driven out and replaced
- Remember that the new mount will need a 6mm spacer - you may need to jack the engine when fitting the new mount
- Do NOT forget the heatshield
This is a good opportunity to inspect the exhaust manifold with a mirror, checking for cracks and missing nuts or studs. Very little remedial work can be done with the head in place.
