Engine Removal

Engine removal and replacement

The engine and gearbox are removed downwards using a workshop crane. Note that it is MUCH easier to remove the harmonic damper (crankshaft pulley) while the engine is still in the car. This is essential if oil pump, crank seal, timing (cam) belt or oil pump operations are planned.

• Check that codes, etc., are available for any equipment using them.
• Disconnect the battery earth strap after lifting the rear seat.
• Set the main heating temperature control to "warm".
• Undo the coolant header tank cap.

• Drain the coolant by disconnecting the radiator rear bottom hose
