- The VAG 1397 should be operated by a passenger
- Open cut-off valve by pushing sleeve towards VAG 1397 pressure gauge
- Accelerate in second gear and use brakes to reduce engine speed to 5500 rpm
- Close VAG 1397 gauge by pulling sleeve away from valve
