If you wanted to keep the cabin alarm but disable the trunk (which you 
thought might have been your source of problems), couldn't you just unplug 
the trunklock alarm?   I know I had it unplugged while I was sorting out 
the nonfunctional keylock in the trunk (10 years of nobody ever thinking to 
lube it).
