Both good points! I have an infra-red temp meter and I'll try that -
excellent idea. The gauge might require a different sender, but I think a
thermocouple is a thermocouple. I'm trying to get an answer from the guys at
Egauges. I also found out, courtesy of a fellow lister, that Egauges sent me
a Vision series unit (310-151)and not a Cockpit (310-036) as requested, so
I'll be going around the loop with them on this as well. Full report to
follow.

Anyone know anything about thermocouples? Are they all the same?

Glen: I wonder if you should "calibrate" your gauge by borrowing an
infra-red thermometer, and measuring temps after the system has stabilized?
Could the new gauge require a different sender than your old one?
