[200q20v] Yet another strut/spring question

Folks:

I installed Bilstein HDs with the stock springs on my 1991 200 20v Wagon, 
and I'm very happy with the handling, save for the fact that the car sits 
about 1/2 inch higher than it used to  (poor man's allroad).

Say that I want to now replace the stock springs with Eibachs or maybe S4 
springs...Will the HDs still work, or will I have to replace them with the 
Sports, which are designed for lowering springs.

Has anyone tried the HD/lowering spring combo?
