[200q20v] RE: Noise Question

Paul,  A valve lifter does not know what the oil level in the sump is and
can not react to it.  Only if the pump should injest some air and that air
enter the lifter would lifter performance be temporarily affected.  If you
are having lifter noise problems the reason is most likely is sludge/varnish
build up within the lifter.  Try an oil additive designed to correct the
problem.  I don't believe that the use of Mobil 1 will harm your engine, but
it will add sensitivity to your seat of the pants dyno because of a thinner
wallet.
