Bernie-
I found on two separate occasions that when my lifters started making noise
(the only times since I owned my car, unlike my 5KQ), the first was when I
had an oil leak from my oil cooler and the lifters were making a lot of
noise! The car was about 2 quarts low, added oil, it stopped. The second
time I was low on oil, a little below the "add" mark on the dipstick, added
oil, it stopped.
That is the basis for my hypothesis.....
However, on my 5KQ, after about 5K miles on an oil change, the lifters would
make noise, even at normal oil levels. Change the oil, it would go
away.....don't ask me why!
Paul
