Yes, that's an important point. You'll never hear it come on unless 
you stay near the car for about 5 minutes after shutdown. The 
circuitry that controls afterrun allows it to go on only if the 
sensor is "tripped" after the 5 minutes of "heat soaking". Also, the 
pump/fan combination is extremely quiet, so don't expect to hear it 
unless standing quite close by. Mine never runs for more than about 2 
minutes.
