If there's lots of oil right around the inner CV joint, then it's a
leak from the differential output-shaft seal--a common problem in
Audis with over 80-100,000 miles. Of course the tranny drain and fill
plugs are very close by, and it's conceivable--though unlikely--that
a plug is loose/leaking. The oil seal for the differential shaft
costs about $5 and there's under 2 hours of labor. It shouldn't cost
over 120 bucks unless you fall into the clutches of a typical Audi
service department.
