No, I didn't mean to imply the caliper design was a _cause_ of rotor 
warping, but rather the possibility that warped UFO rotors (even 
slightly warped) might be able--because of the unique design--to 
induce unexpectedly large pulsations or vibrations in the caliper. 
Audi observed this during testing (I assume) and designed the damper 
as compensation.
