[200q20v] frozen door lock?

Greetings:

Came out this a.m. to 15 degree temperature (I realize that's mild for you
hardy quattro owners in certain parts of the world but in Central Virginia
pretty durn cold even in winter) and driver's side door lock refused to
accept key all the way. It felt like something was blocking the key from
full entry. Natch I opened it up from the trusty passenger side door, with
no similar symptoms. Those of you who have very graciously responded to my
recent posts regarding door locks may recall I have recently had the
upgraded stamped metal door lock installed driver's side in place of the
original pot metal piece after an accident disabled the latter.

Once the outdoor temperature warmed up into the 20s, no problem with the
key. Also, I've never quite figured out the "heated door lock" feature that
supposedly is in place.........my initial assumption is that it has
deactivated but not sure how to diagnose and fix it.

Anybody recognize this or have similar experiences?

TIA,
