I think 17"s are only worth going to if you're going to get Big Reds, etc.
otherwise you're better off with 16" rims.  Less likely to bend the rim,
better ride, the rim usually weighs less and therefore will slow down the
car less, and you'll already be running 50 series tires anyway (225/50R16
I assume) which are pretty low-profile in and of themselves.  I only wish
I had 17s when I consider the big brake upgrades.
