I've found high-quality clear packing tape makes for great protection from
the 'sandblasting effect' and also helps protect against small stone-chips.
Replace several times per year for maximum light output. Invisible to the
eye (not ugly like thick plastic protectors) and  relatively effective. Keep
those lenses looking and working like new!
