Thanks, I checked that switch and it was tight. Does it have a gasket or
seal that could have failed? Should I take it out to check it?  TIA

On the burning smell, look for a switch screwed into the back of the center
differential on the right side. See if that's leaking. BTDT. I have no idea
what the switch is for, but it's not a backup light switch, although it
looks just like one and it's certainly not a diff lock indicator light
switch in a Torsen car. I think the part # is 084 941 521.
