That's true with more than just audio CD players.  Most older PC CD-ROMs
from the 91-94,95 era will not play burnt CDs either; be they audio or
data.  I hear it has something to do with the depth at which a CDR drive
burns the disc vs. a mass-produced deeply-burnt CD.
