Skill, technique, practice. Keep the car in tune, tire
pressures up. Limit accel rate. Let speed burn off on
up-hills and gather slowly on down-hills. NEVER BRAKE,
always let-up before corners where you need to lose
speed and when you know you will have to stop. Brakes
= fuel wasted as heat, not motion, you can't get it
back! (Eric Clapton) Conservation of momentum is KING!
If you know you have to stop and wait, like fer a
redlight, let off, shift into N and coast, try to
maintain as much speed as possible to use when you can
get back on the throttle again, hopefully before you
come to a dead stop - the worst! Brake a bit in this
situation if you approach the stopping point too
quickly.... maintain that momentum! Watch the boost
gage, limit your rate of accel and speed on up-hills
to a pre-set vac level, experiment with what you can
tolerate.... Shift into N on long, steep downhills
(only when safe to do so - SAFETY FIRST!) Switch off
the ignition at 'forever lights', that IS why the
radio stays on with the ign off.... We have a lot, too
many in fact, 'forever lights' in NH.
Skill, technique, practice.
Skill, technique, practice.
Seen 28-30 often in the 200q20v in warm weather,
sometimes 30+. BTDT.
No, I don't always drive like that!
