Here's the data I got on the springs:
Springs:
Eibach (949.752.6700)
M/N Appl. "Spring Rate" Lowering Amount
(200-20V)
1506.140 '91 100 Linear F 128#/inch 1.0" (1.25")
Progressive R 128-286#/inch 0.8" (1.0")
1529.140 '92 S4 Linear F 246#/inch 1.0" (0.75")
Progressive R 188-308#/inch 0.8" (0.5")
H&R (888.827.8881)
M/N Appl. "Working Rate" Lowering Amount
29800 '91 200-20V Linear F 175#/inch 1.5"
Linear R 230#/inch 1.5"
29616 '91 100 Linear F 175#/inch 0.75-1.0"
Linear F 200#/inch 1.0"
29921 '92 S4 Linear F 300#/inch n/a
Linear F 350#/inch n/a
He said: "don't even try the 29921 on a '91 200 20V!"
Please note that Eibach and H&R use different means to publish the spring
rates for their springs - that is, the listed rates are not directly
comparable.
I'll be interested to see how Chris Miller likes his Eibach-front and H&R
rear-combo.

These numbers are from a post a while back. I hope they are right, I
suppose a call to H&R to confirm is in order.
H&R spring rates
200 20v springs #29800 220 lb/in F 310 lb/in R
V8 Springs #29921 300 ib/in F 330 ib/in R

Brian-
Do you have #s for the spring rates of the 29800, the V8 H&R and
your Eibachs? I'd love to know what the differences are.

Thanks for the reply Taka,
I think I was a bit surprised by the amount of body roll with the H&R's.
As I said I have stiffer rear springs on my 20v and the body roll is
much
less. I am starting to think a rear roll bar isn't really necessary,
maybe
just stiffer springs in the back will make a big difference in reducing
body roll without making the ride too much worse. I wonder if the
optimal
set-up would be a H&R kit with the 200 20v front springs and the V8
rears...
Neither my stock front eibach rears or the H&R's both with Bilstien
sports
seemed underdamped over bumps (my bumps may differ from yours).

???
Plush? I have that setup and it is far from plush- the springs are quite
stiff, takes quite a bit of force to really compress the springs.
"Snip"
Biggest problem I have is the body roll- even with the Bilstein sport
and H&R springs the car rolls like a big boat when pushed hard. Only
thing I can think of to combat this would be to put a large front
anti-roll bar on the car and a rear bar to combat the corresponding
understeer.
I think the shocks are more of a problem than the springs- the shocks
need more rebound damping so the ride doesn't get ridiculously jiggly on
short
bumps- our
A4 w/ H&R coilovers rides better in that regard, although the shorter
wheelbase makes the car less comfortable, but the shock damping is much
better in that setup.
