That's what my 200q20v did when the fuel pump failed.  Probably enough
residual fuel pressure to just start and then run out of fuel because the
pump wasn't renewing the supply.  If you can't hear the pump running when
you're in the trunk (while someone cranks the engine), it ain't
running.  It COULD be failure of one of the other things the system uses to
make sure the pump should run, but pump failure is the most likely, I
believe.  If you can put 12 volts to the pump wiring connector under the
access plate in the trunk, you can determine whether the pump is
functional, I suppose.
