I would check the latch pins and latches on the doors. My car does not
rattle, but, in the past, I have fixed many rattley VW's by changing pins.

I have this problem! In fact, both my 200q20v and my previous '87 5k
had this noise.. It sounds a lot like the doors are moving relative to
the door "openings", making a noise. The passenger front door makes
the most noise, but the driver's door is not far behind. Other than
that, not much noise. I've tried talcum, silicone and extra gaskets,
but nothing really helped..
