Axle CV joint Questions

Listers,
Last fall when I had my mechanic replace my front shocks and bushings I
noticed that my CV boots looked worn but not through, so I would assume they
were uncontaminated...I had him repalce all four front boots..now some
months later I am getting the familiar clicking of a bad joint...boots still
intact. Does anyone have any experience with successs of pulling back the
boots and regreasing? Is this not a good idea? Should I clean the joint?
I would assume the joint is dry and not contaminated..but I could be wrong,
the joint only clicks when turning in one direction if that info is
important.
Thanks for any advice...
