Remember there are restrictor screens in the various banjo bolts that won't
come clean with a resevoir screen service. FYI II, in order to claim
warrantee on a ZF reman steering rack, the install receipt must contain a
complete flush of the PS system, a screen clean only comes up warrantee
voided, btst.
I encourage folks to do routine PS flushes with any rack associated service,
from hoses to rack itself. The banjo bolts with screens can be cleaned with
compressed air and reinstalled. IME, the resevoir screen isn't where the
crud failures occur, it's usually obstructed screens in the banjo bolts.
I wouldn't use any cleanser or solvent in the PS system either, it breaks
down the pentosin if not thoroughly dried/purged. Cleaning and purging
should be done with fresh pentosin and compressed air.

I wouldn't bother flushing, unless I had to overhaul rack or pump, and then
just top off. It is a good idea to clean the filter screen every 100K or
so.
