Amazingly Large repair estimate...

Yes Adam,
that is indeed a very expensive repair estimate (not
surprising) but you have to remember that audifans.com
exists because mechanics charge what they do.
I have a local mechanic that I've been forced to use
on occasion who charges a remarkably high price for
parts. If those parts come from the local Audi dealer
you need to add his mark-up to the ridiculous price
that the dealership charges and before you know it,
selling the old 200 starts looking more and more
attractive.
The previous owner of my car (who I just discovered is
the CFO of register.com) took my car to an audi
specialist in MA and I have a nice stack of receipts
where every bill is atleast $1,000. As audi fans and
Audifan listers, we pick and choose what we can and
cannot fix in a never ending effort to reduce
ownership costs.

Looking at a $400 fuel pump bill and eyeing a BMW
lease thru the wife's employee lease program. The 200
won out again, but for how much longer?
