[V8] About Knock Sensors

2 more things come to mind from my experiences. First, the green and
brown connectors under the air filter cover are VERY brittle; handle
with care.

Second, if you have been running for a while with a bad signal from
sensor to ECU, once you fix this problem, it may take a while for you to
notice full power again. The reason for this is the adaptive learning
that goes on in the ECU. It may be fooled to think that the fool behind
the wheel only uses 80 Octane gas. Pull the fuses to the ECU (check
Scott Mockry's website) and this will start your learning process from
zero. Huge difference in my case as I had been driving with retarded
timing for 2 weeks.

- Jeremy

Dave and Mihnea,

Thanks for the suggestions. This is with respect to the V8, not the
200q20v. I was just doing some testing on the v8 motor for what feels
like
lack of timing advance. I know if I disconnect the knock sensors the
Engine
goes into full retard mode and a noticeable decrease in power. I would
definitely change both knock sensors anyway, but as a certain someone
might
say, DFI if IAB ;-) especially if I'd have to remove the IM to do the
right
sensor.
