Metal vs. Plastic Radiator

I have 243,000 miles on my '91 20V. In my experience the plastic
radiator is too dangerous to run. Twice, I have had water pumps go
out, which evacuated the water from the radiator, and immediately
split the upper nipple. I believe the thermal shock caused the break.
For the past 100,000 miles I have run a metal radiator, with zero
problems, including a burst heater hose which would have surely popped
the upper nipple. Recently I removed and cleaned the aux radiator and
replaced the hoses. No problems there at all.

Also, recently I accidentally caused a crease in the side tank which
opened a small slit and drained the coolant down below the upper
nipple. I was able to solder on a brass patch with the radiator in
place. Try that with a plastic radiator.

I too have an oil leak like Phil's, and have been unable to locate it.
My timing belt, idler, water pump, etc. are new, so I don't believe is
from under the TC.
