Mineral Oil as Hyd Fluid

I do believe that most shelf grades of mineral oil are much more viscous
than pentosin. I have seen mineral oil heated up to temperatures over
300C (to calibrate thermocouples) so I don't think that's a concern. I
can't imagine a few hours of use would trash all seals but I don't know
for sure.  Carrying a spare liter is a good idea for a weeping hose that
takes weeks or days to get the reservoir low.  My last encounter w/ this
system was failed hi pressure hose that sprayed out entire contents of
system within minutes. I believe the best action for this scenario on
the road would be to cut off the belt for the pump and just drive the
car (maybe even you could run pump dry for some few hours, I wouldn't
try on mine though). The 200 20v is heavy to steer and stop but not a
big deal.  Just leave some extra braking space.......some guy posted on
driving without the pump for years........gave him a right quad like jan
ullrich or lance armstrong

You should feel free to "drop it", Bernie, as your lack of
qualifications to comment on mineral oil properties is probably
matched only by your hypocracy in calling this "a stupid thread".
