Phil,

The Granada shared many parts with the Mercur Scorpio,
which was available here from 1985 through 1998-99??
Perhaps that may be a lead..

And your other point is correct, us people in the north have
a different symptom of freezing up the parking brake. Its
the place where the shaft goes into the caliper.
