Many prefer to just splice a generic 2-wire Bosch oxy sensor onto the 
old connector wiring, which saves about $100 and also avoids the 
problem you describe. Anyway, like you, I have not been able to 
figure out how to release the oxy sensor connector from the mounting 
bracket on the firewall, so there are at least two of us.
