You might want to check voltage at several points with a meter.  At the 
battery, the jumper post and back of alternator.  Their is a main battery cable 
splice in the passenger foot area that has been known to fail (see Chris Millers 
Web page).  There is also a volt meter in the AC controller on your dash, the 
volt display is on channel 11, you can look in the Bentley for step through 
instructions in the AC section.  I recently replace my regulator and brushes, 
($50) at 165k.
