Can window movement be quieted/amoothened/lubed?

Before I reattach one front door panel, is there anything particular I can do to make the windows operate "smooth and quiet as new"?  Is there any part of the crank mechanism that is worth lubing, and with what, to make the windows sound like they're not struggling to move after 12 years of only the factory lubrication?
