interior style copied?

Hello all.
Thought I would pass on something I saw this past weekend.  A friend was driving his recently acquired former parents Mercedes 300 TD - 1983.
I was shocked at how similar the interior was to my platinum leather 200 !  Same platinum leather seats / dash and door panels with the SAME wood trim across the dash and doors etc.   The wood really looked like it was the same wood - same finish and grain.    I have a few pictures if your interested.
