No an expert, but you will find in most General Aviation aircraft that these 
types of cracks are pretty common, but in the plastic structures of the 
plane vs the metal ones.  (wing tips, cowls, windshields, etc) The preferred 
thin wallet fix is to place a drilled hole at the inner most part of the 
crack (drill stop)The unitiated are always fond of seeing these preflight!
