Wiper Arms

Looking at this contribution to the Audi resources

# 42 on the "Electrical" systems pages.........

It shows a change in the arms allowing the arms to open wider than 90 degrees.
I wonder if this contributes to the arms hitting the hood edge if swapped 
from an earlier model 100/200/5000.........
