Trunk won't open

The good news is I was able to make a spring 
to replace the one that broke inside the trunk 
latch and caused the trunk to latch only when 
slammed so hard it registered on the Reichter 
Scale.  I shortened one from an Ace hardware 
store.  

The bad news is when I remounted the latch 
I forgot to reattach the bar to the key tumbler.  
So after I closed the lid it won't open now.  
SLAP!  DUMB!  

What do I do now?  What's the trick to opening 
the trunk without a key?
