Aux. air flap spring mounting points?

The other end hooks onto a shaft that is roughly directly above the lower
mounting point on the back of the flap door.  I have repaired 2 of these and
came up with an M shaped piece of coat hanger to hang over the two pieces
that the plastic shaft runs between as the plastic shaft is often cut
through by the spring.
