Where do you get the notion there was any claim of the paint scrape 
being "beyond the dealer's control to fix it"??? Where did I say "the 
factory did it" ?  There's a lot of miles of transport and handling 
between the factory and the dealer's door.

What's happened to reading comprehension? All _tried_ (and evidently 
failed) to indicate in my earlier post was that the nice protective 
cover is impressive but  not necessarily a guarantee against 
pre-delivery damage or the need for dealer prep. You guys are making 
a f*kin' mountain out of a molehill, IMO. How in the world do you get 
the impression that my dealer claimed anything was "beyond (their) 
control to fix it"??? Nowhere did I state that they in any way failed 
to take responsibility to repair this very minor scrape. They showed 
me the scratch (and implied that they themselves didn't do it--i.e., 
implied it "arrived" in that condition). Now that may or may not have 
been true, but it's entirely beside the point. The dealer apologized 
most profoundly, and of course promised (in writing) to do whatever 
was needed to repair it to my satisfaction. Now, if I was satisfied 
with that, what concern is it of anyone else?

Expect perfection? No, I've learned (the hard way) that having very 
high standards is good, but that expecting "perfection" only assures 
you a lifetime of constant stress and unhappiness.

As to fearing the damage could lead to rust in "NY state winters": 
Scott you need to "get out" more so you'd realize that bumpers on new 
cars (Audis, at least) are plastic. Even in NY state winters, a paint 
scrape on the bumper--even left unrepaired-- will not result in rust.
