The stock sedan system has a "diversity" antenna system. One antenna (the
rear window) has both AM and FM capability, the other (the windshield) is FM
only (aka "very bad AM reception"). The stock head unit picks the stronger
FM signal from the two available. So when replacing with aftermarket, only
the rear antenna need be connected as aftermarket head units tend to have
only one antenna input.. The white wire in the harness powers both the Bose
amps and the antenna amps - my car no longer has Bose amps.
